It's the little things :)

A lot of the things that im grateful for aren't monumental things. And i'm grateful for that in and of itself. (okay, is it just me or does that phrase look really weird typed out? usually i just say innaof-itself)

Anyway, If i'm early for class its not going to make or break my week..but its sure going to make it easier to find a seat...and i'm grateful for good seats.

If I remember to put my phone on silent before class, its not going to help me get an A. but its definitely going to save me the possible embarassment of my phone going off during the prayer and having all of my classmates turn to see who has the goofy built-in ringtone that sounds scary-close to Hannah Montana. Just sayin..i have nightmares about that happening. So i'm grateful for remembering.

Today, i'm especially grateful that BYU takes off their internet restrictions after 5. Don't Judge, cause i know that sounds weird.. but being able to get on Facebook and GoogleChat during a three hour long math class is definitely a blessing.

heres another picture. it makes sense because today was voting day and because i've seen like 28 christmas commercials today, so those two things together make this picture.

Because this will keep me sane..

Marcie suggested a gratitude journal. I don’t know exactly what that means, but im guessing I just say something im grateful for everyday. Like I said before, it will keep me sane.. I had a new years resolution where I would write down one thing that made me happy every single day..even if it was something goofy like a good parking spot at school (which is actually a really big deal) and it didn’t matter where I wrote it...even if it was in the margin of my homework or something. I did it until April and then all the sudden I didn’t one day…annnd that’s all it takes L But that’s okay! Cause this will be like a Part Two kind of thing!
So for today, I am grateful that it is November. I like new months and new beginnings. And im also grateful for when people force you to have fun. I think sometimes my roommates and I will plan something and then I start thinking about it too much and it feels like it will be less and less fun. That’s dumb. I think my favorite memories happened because someone suggested something random and spur of the moment, and I didn’t always want to go..but I went. And it rocked. For example, two weeks ago a couple people came over at like 11 and asked if I wanted to go golfing. It was freezing outside. I can’t golf. and I was being a bum so I said no.. .well then peer pressure happened and next thing I knew I was at a golf course breaking open glowsticks and pouring them on golfballs. It was one of my favorite nights of the semester, and im thankful for those breaks.“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us. -Albert Schweitzer
oh ps here is halloween:
We went around scaring people one night
and these are our legit costumes..they doubled as a costume for an 80s party.. we started off as Punkers but then soon realized all the stuff we got was bright colors. i dont know. by the time ahlloween came around i didnt like them anymore but thats okay.
And here are fun things we do:

So the end is coming near :( I'm guessing i have about a month and a few days left in Hawaii and while i can't wait to get home and hang out with my family, i still have these weird moments where i get supeeerr sad. like it just happened. right then..as i was typing that.

yesterday was a really good day.. we went to church and then Waimea Bay...we were only there for about 2 hours when the number of ambulances that had to come were up to 5. I don't realy know how to explain it but the shore break was really dangerous..it was the highest its been in 6 months i guess..so the waves would be really big and fun but then all the sudden they would get over 12 feet high and people were being pulled under. It was intense. Then after we got home we went to devotional and it was Sheri Dew and Wendy Nelson..they did a realllly good job, and afterwards we went up to meet them. haha that was awkward. I kinda just wanted to say thanks for cmoing and keep walking but idk it was weird..my roommate wanted to get a picture with all of us and her and it was just strange. Sheri Dew definitely seems like someone i would NOT want to cross with. she got really weird when people asked her to sign her book. But its against the rules so its not like she was just being goofy about it.

After this week the island is going to be SO bare..it'll just be us idaho kids and the locals pretty much (which is scary) because school is ending this week...i dont' know about anyone else but i swear the last two weeks in EVERY single semester, it starts getting really really really fun..like you start meeting really cool people and i think its annoying! oh well...we'll still have fun..maybe cool people will be moving in too. wellll i need to go to work. sooooo the end.

WHO WHY EE (Hawaii)

HAWAII
So I feel like I should probably update this every once in a while so my sisters know whats going on in my life. Ya know..if theyre interested.
I’ll just catch you up on whats been going on this last week. So theres this thing called Stairway to Heaven and it’s a hike up a mountain that consists of 3,922 stairs ..one way. Seriously. It was made around world war 2 I think because they used to have an assembly line that goes up it and they would load stuff in helicopters at the top. Then they reconstructed the stairs in the 1950s cause they were wooden and scary and dangerous, and then again in 2003 they spent almost a million dollars re doing the stairs again …theyre stil ghetto though they just made better hand rails and stuff. But the thing is, for some reason the hike is still illegal. So if you want to go, then you have to wake up at 3am and go down there so you can get there before the security guard. SO on Wednesday that’s what we did..except we got there at like 430 instead and there was already a security guard sitting there…we were so bummed. So we went to one of the other hidden entrances that we found out about on google, but you have to hop a fence for it. I didn’t care..i was way excited cause by the time you get to the top of the mountain you can see all of Oahu and its right when the sun rises and stuff. But anyways its in a neighborhood and this guy came out and was being gay and said we ‘better not climb that fence’ even though it wasn’t on his property or anything. So we left.
THEN we tried the next day even earlier but there was a security guard there then too. So weve decided that they must pay someone to sit out there for literally 24 hours to keep people out. Whatever. I’ll climb it eventually. On our way home the second day we stopped at a world war 2 bunker..i didn’t even know what a bunker was. It was REALLY sweet though. Tehres like a lock that you need a combination for to get inside, but somehow my roomie knew it? It was so scary..we went up like 10-15 sets of ladders..it felt like I was climbing through a drain pipe or a straw. There was seriously NO room. If your foot slipped then you’d be a goner. We got to the top and climbed out and then climbed up on some rocks and sat in the Look-out den or whatever its called. Its that thing on the top of the mountain that overlooks the ocean and someone with guns sits there and shoots are ships and stuff. It rocked.
Oh and I had NO idea how many movies were filmed on Oahu. The entire show Lost was filmed like 20 minutes from where I live and they jus tbarely stopped filming a few weeks ago, but apparently you could go and watch them film anytime you wanted. We went to A LOT of the places they’ve been. And next to the bunker we were in was another bunker that is filled with props from different movies. They had stuff from Indiana jones, pearl harbor especially, and like a billion other things. As we were leaving my roommate went to put the lock back on right when an SUV of producers pulled up and they were like what are you guys doing? Who are you? They didn’t’ care that we weren’t supposed to be there and we were…they just didn’t want us messing with their stuff.
The frustrating part about this trip is that the temple is closed. And apparently has been for over a year. I was really looking forward to going to it. Buuuut oh well.
I guess that’s all I have for this week..but here are pictures to make it more interesting.

i hope someone reads this...

...cause seriously, i feel like its going to be really long.
i have marshalls stories..i know, i know, when do i not?
but this year our slogan is "tis the season.." which means tis the season for people to be dishonest. and oh baby, are they ever!
chelsee has already heard my super long story about a man stealing stuff in the backroom...and it would take a while to type out..so next time i talk to whoever is reading this, ask me for teh story if you watn further proof that sometimes people suck.
here are my most recent stories..the first one, wont make sense cause im going to try not to use marshals lingo..but i need to vent it anyway.
on wednesday, a customer totally made me cry. no joke. ..im not gonna lie, i pride myself on being someone who gets frustrated with customers but doesnt take them seriously enoguh to take the stuff they say personal. well apparently, it didnt work this time.
Yesterday, a woman came in who i know as someone who steals. she was trying to do a return with a receipt, but when i scanned the receipt it said that the items had alread been returned. I guess she didnt realize that our system would flag that. so i tried to be nice to her...and explain it and she FREAKED OUT. she caused a scene. Ironically, 99% of the time it is the people who kow they are doing something wrong who cause a sccene...if we falsely accuse someone of something then they usually get really pissed but just storm out and call corporate.. people who are being dishonest want to make it seem like WE are making the mistake. so she was yelling at me and blahblahblah i call my manager and blahblahblah. eventually my manager just handed her the stuff back and said we can return it. endofstory. well, it wasnt the end of story because the lady came back later with a different receipt and tried to return it again.
..this is the part wehre i lost my cool. i started getting really short with her, and it was like i coudlnt help it. at one point she asked why i was having so much trouble with her return annnnnnnnnnnd me being me..i fired back by saying i wasnt having a problem with anything other than her. and that she was being difficult. and i rolled my eyes.
after i said it i litierally said outloud 'whoa. what am i doing?' usually i can smile thru any rude comment or anything frustrating situation..idk why yesterday was so different. Anyways. i call my manager again and at one point the customer told my manager that i was treating her like a theif and she said "i am SO above that!" ...here is mistake #238792: I smiled.
it was a huge mistake. it wasnt that i necessarily thought it was funny but it just hit me at that moment that i had been talking to her forr a good 35 minutes and we had accomplished nothing other tha nher calling me swear words and me just standing there. That really set her off and she got in my face and told me i was racist. (shocking..i know)
at that point i just wanted her to leafve so i tried talking over her asking her if she wanted her receipt with her or back in the bag.. which made her more angry.
she was like i hope you learn something from this! i hope yo ulearn that you cannot treat people with disrespect..no matter what their color or gener or race or religion is. and then the customer behind her who had not heard ANY of the conversatnio said "amen." Thats when i started getting teary eyed. and i had to literally just leave the service desk ..with the lady still standing there. luckily my manager was still sort of up there so she took over for a few minutes.
people suck. oh and by the way..we told the lady to come in the next morning so we can review the tapes just incase we made a mistake (yeah, right.) and of course..she didnt come in. whatever.
that was a llong story.
its like 1 in the morning so ill post my other story tomorrow ro something.
i didnt eralize it would take that long to vent it out. buuuut i do feel better haha

i actually dont have any stories..or anything super interesting to say. buut i could fill you in on the not so interesting stuff..
i am currently watching Intervention and the world series...im praying the yankees will pull thru and win it all tonight. ive been staying up to watch the games and it is taking a toll..im constantly tired and im going to work pretty ugly haha. ..they are currently losing this game, but i have hope.
I get to register for classes on the 17th. can i just say that i am insanely excited?!!?! i can't even explain it. i'm sort of bummed that i have to wait until the 17th to register, cause some people get to register starting today..but it could be worse. my friends at work out here have been talking about learning to snowboard because there is this place pretty close to columbus that does group classes for waaaayy cheap. and i told the mthat i would go in a heartbeat. im not really sure if its going to happen, but i hope so because it would be ridiculously fun..and then tonight while iw as looking at other calsses to take for electives and stuff, because im pretty sure im going to be way overhwelmed with my religion and science and math classes! anywho, while looking i saw that there is a snowboarding class. can i just say that it was the most exciting time of my day!??! haha that would be awesome. and cute boys central. hooray.
i'm so overwhelmed with how much crap i still have out here..and trust me, my car was FULLLLLL. but i still have a closet full of clothes! and for the record i have only bought 2 shirts since being home. so marcie, if a box comes to your house addressed to me..feel free to open it and wear what you want. ..as long as there are no permanent baby poop stains. theres no way i could fit everything i have in suitcases right now, so theres no way around sending a box.
wow...yeah..i guess thats all i have to say. i'm lame. but seriously, next time i have a marshalls story ill let this little blog know!

the ohio life.

no post in july? man, i suck. its starting to loko like chelsees blog.

here is my new life:
i wake up, work, come home, eat, take a nap, wake up, eat a little more, and then sleep again.
i dont know whats wrong with me but i could sleep for 23 hours as long as the last hour was spent EATING. i cant stop. but ohhh how i love the comments i get from people when they say "hmm. you look older now that youve gained a few pounds" ooorr "well, at least now you look healthy." gee. thanks. i still fit into my clothes people! im not a whale. haha my friends have no social tact whatsoever.
being back at work is HARDDD. not only am i tempted to buy all of these incredibly cheap and trendy clothes, but standing on my feet makes me want to die, and sometimes jsu tbeing there in general. isnt that annoying? i love the people there though, they make it sooo worth it to smile thru the endless i-think-im-clever comments i get when i ask people if they want to open up a credit card. :) luckily its summer so when i work in the mornings, my friends do too. im not sure what i'll do when its the fall and all of the normal schools on the planet go back in session. hah, i try not to think about it.
as of today i am now 60% unpacked. if you would have asked me this morning, i would have said 20% and thats just my clothes. im feeling pretty good about it. my entire room was smooshed to the side to make room for chels and jorow so not only did i have a crapton of stuff from idaho, but i also had to deal with rearranging that. im pretty sure i am going to survive. im over half way there..
not only that, but i also paid for both of my tickets today. the grand total? $260. most likely more than my first paycheck. i'm so glad i only have to do that trip one more time =]
in the next 2 weeks im going to Cedar Point again. ...you know, that amusement par kthat has the rollercoaster that gets up to 120 mph in 4 secnods? yeah.thats right. :) i'm pretty stoked. i convinced 3 of my friends from work to come and im waiting to see if my friend who is in the military right now will want to...she will have only been back for a week. but still. how can you pass up these amazing times??
i have like 2 embarassing stories from marshalls. but they are long and it is late. i'll try and remember tomorrow..on my FIRST day off (except sunday..which doesnt count bc i had to endure waking up that early annnd the looks i got from half of my ward thinking i got kicked out of byu)
okay goontards.
peace out.
